This page explains what RoofingShingles Calculator and Roofing Estimate Pro actually do with your data today. It describes the real, current behavior of this application -- not a generic template -- and it will be updated (with a new "last updated" date above) whenever that behavior changes.

What this application is, today

RoofingShingles Calculator's free calculators and Roofing Estimate Pro are presently a browser-local application. There is no account system, no server-side database of your data, and no cloud sync. Everything you enter stays on the device and in the browser you used to enter it, unless you deliberately export it yourself.

What is stored, and where

The free calculators (Roofing Shingle, Roofing Square, Roof Replacement Cost, Roofing Material, and Roof Estimate) store nothing at all -- closing or reloading any of those pages clears whatever you typed in.

Roofing Estimate Pro stores your saved estimates, price-book items, and business settings in IndexedDB, a storage feature built into your browser. This data is written directly by your browser to your device's local storage. It is not automatically transmitted anywhere, and it is not synchronized to any server -- because no server-side storage for this data currently exists.

Backups are yours to make and keep

Roofing Estimate Pro can generate a complete backup file of your data and offer it to you as a local download. That backup is created entirely on your device; it is never uploaded anywhere by this application. When you import a backup file back in, it is read and validated entirely on your device before anything is restored -- the file itself is never sent to a server for processing.

Because there is currently no server-side copy of your data, you are responsible for downloading and keeping your own backups. If something happens to your local data and you have no backup file, it cannot be recovered from anywhere else.

Your local data can be lost

Local browser storage is convenient, but it is not guaranteed permanent storage. Your saved estimates, price-book items, and business settings can be removed by any of the following, among other things:

Download a backup regularly, and always before clearing browser data, resetting a device, or switching browsers.

Persistent storage requests

To reduce (not eliminate) the chance of your browser evicting this application's storage under pressure, Roofing Estimate Pro may ask your browser to grant "persistent storage." Whether that request is granted is entirely up to your browser and operating system -- this application cannot force it -- your browser decides whether to grant it -- and a granted request is still not a guarantee against every form of data loss described above.

No payment processing, no accounts -- yet

No payment processing exists in this application yet. No user accounts, logins, or authentication of any kind exist yet. Any pricing shown on this site describes a planned future offering, not a transaction you can currently complete.

No analytics, advertising, or tracking

This site currently uses no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind -- no analytics scripts, no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, and no marketing cookies. Nothing you do on this site is measured, profiled, or shared with a third party for advertising purposes.

Hosting and server logs

This site is not yet deployed to a production host. Once it is, the hosting provider that serves these pages may keep standard web-server access logs (for example, requested URLs, timestamps, and IP addresses) as is typical for essentially any website -- this is separate from, and unrelated to, the application data described above, which never leaves your browser. This policy will be updated with specifics once a hosting provider is selected.

Use this application responsibly

Because your data is stored locally on whatever device you use, you should not enter information into this application that you are not authorized to store -- for example, a customer's personal or financial information you do not have permission to keep.

Changes to this policy

If how this application handles data changes, this page will be updated and its "last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the application after an update means you accept the revised policy.
